When it comes to sales, you have to be fluent and trustworthy to sell more of your products and services and when it comes to action and words, people fail to sell their stuffs because they use the words that makes them cheap and not trustworthy. So, there are words you absolutely want to avoid in sales. In fact to be DIVES; you absolutely need to avoid these 9 words if you want to sell your product or service.

1.

"TO BE HONEST WITH YOU"

Many salespeople use this word more often. "To be Honest with you, this is the best price we could give you." "To be Honest With you, we never give this deal to anyone else." These are the cheapest words in sales because after "To be Honest With You" what you are telling would sound fake or as the prospect is, well, all the conversation you've had up to this point is a lie. This also decreases the trust and the possibility of the customer to buy your product.

2.

"TRUST ME"

You've overheard of that one. "TRUST ME" "This is a great deal, just, Trust me." Usually when people say trust me, you don't really trust them much like "I am a Vegan, Trust Me" It is a very bad word to use in sales. If you want someone to trust you and you're trustworthy, you don't have to say trust me. Your Action speaks louder than your words. Saying Trust Me also decreases the chances of your sales.

3.

"SORRY TO BOTHER YOU"

Why Are You Bothering Me? If you feel so sorry about it then just don't bother me in the first place. In order to close the sales, to be more effective, you want to raise your status and trust but the moment you apologize, before proposing anything, before giving any solutions, "sorry to bother you" it immediately puts you at a lower status. You don't have to apologize to sell your product that you think is the best for the customer. You don't have to apologize if you are offering them something. If you believe in what you do, don't apologize. In sales, value and money exchange. You're not begging, You don't have to say sorry.

4.

"JUST FOLLOWING UP"

The word follow up is been used so long by the salespeople, that it automatically triggers the response, that oh, you're trying to sell me something. A person wants interesting and unique stuffs and even though your product is valuable, the word follow up makes people less interested in the product. If you really want your sale, don't use the word follow up, instead find out better causes and problems and ask some effective questions.

5.

"BUY"

This is very common. People love to buy but they don't like the idea of buying because the word buy means that it is going to cost money. See, we love the action of buying but the word itself triggers that when you buy something, you have to spend money on it. So instead what should you say, "OWN" or "TAKE THIS HOME WITH YOU" or "TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT". "Do you want to buy this?" The Response is more like NO but if you say "Do you want to take this home with you?" "Do you want to take advantage of it?" "Do you want to own this?" Response will be "sure". In order to sell your products you want the prospect to say Yes many times. This also creates positive impact on the customer. The more Yes they will say you, there are more chances of them buying your product. "Do you want to move forward in life?" YES. See who doesn't likes to move forward in life or "Would you like to buy this?" Um, let me think about it or straight "NO". The word Buy triggers fear. So, In matter of sales try to avoid the word BUY.

6.

"CONTRACT"

What comes in your mind, when you hear the word contract. "I am signing a 30 pages contact. I am signing my life away" The word Contract feels too serious and heavy. People often say this in matter of sales; "hey, are you ready to sign a contract?" It's like "are you ready to sign your life away?" People won't feel comfortable as the word is very serious. Instead Say "AGREEMENT" Agree is a widely used term like "Yeah, I can agree on something" If you say agreement it makes the prospect more comfortable. It feels less intimidating and less pressure. You can also use the word "Paperwork" "Lets sign a contact" or "Lets get the paperwork out of the way" Both mean the same thing. The paperwork is more simpler. In sales always try to use simpler words. That would grab attention of customers quickly and people would listen to you.

7.

"I HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM YOU"

"I haven't heard back from you" This sounds normal but this creates a bad impression on you and your product in sales. Using this word makes the prospect feel guilty and uncomfortable." If they are not interested in your product and are constantly ignoring your messages and calls. Saying "i haven't heard back from you" worsens your possibility of your product to be sold. Don't make the prospect feel guilty and embarrassed, make them feel valuable. When you contact the prospect to a touch point, always offer something. And when they are ready to do business or buy any product, they will think of you because you offered them every time you contacted and added value to their work.

8.

"INDIVIDUAL"

Individual is a very cold and institutional word. To make people buy your product, you must make them feel greater but using the term Individual makes them less bothered and is also the main mistakes that many salespeople do. Instead use some casual terms while talking. You don't talk with your friends saying Individual. "You are a very busy and successful Individual." The word itself is not catchy so instead use People, Person or any other casual phrases.

9.

"WE ARE BETTER THAN ........"

Never put down your competitor. The moment you say "We are better than this, Our service is better than this company" the prospect would think that oh, of course, you'll say that. You just want my sale or you want to close this sale. The prospect is always seeking of finding a solution to their problems. So, instead of criticizing other companies, ask questions to find out their problems and provide value to them. You can also do the opposite, Praise the competitor. People want solution to their problems. So, focus more on that because criticizing would only raise you or your company to a higher level, it would not solve any problems.
